I couldnt recover my momentum out of a 2-0 Wednesday night since I fell 2 of my three selections the last of which again came in frustrating fashion. Ahead of the game had a shootout with the 2 clubs knotted in threes later overtime as Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning moved back-and-forth the night got off to a nice start. The Lighting obtained a Steven Stamkos goal late while Andrei Vasilevskiy stood tall as we struck the Lighting at +100 odds that were nice in this one. On the other hand, the night went downhill from there. After getting the first goal of the match, the Winnipeg Jets would allow the next 3 markers and proceeded to lose their third consecutive home game. The offense isnt clicking at this time and it bit me on two of the 3 nights. Eventually, my last selection of the night between the Predators and Coyotes dropped because the total went over 6 thanks to — you guessed it — a empty-netter. We stumbled with a push late into the third period however our fate was sealed by a Carl Soderberg empty-netter and gave us second night that was losing during the previous three. It has been a back-and-forth week for this point, but let us enter the weekend on a high note at a matchup between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks from the United Center in Chicago. Season Record: 6-7 Components: -1.85 *Odds courtesy of Bovada Blue Jackets vs. Blackhawks Betting Odds: Blue Jackets (+120) Blackhawks (-140) Over 6.5 (-105) Under 6.5 (-115) Blue Jackets vs. Blackhawks NHL Pick It is a meeting from the Windy City tonight because Blue Jackets ass and also the Blackhawks heads out of the United Center. Columbus enters this one riding high after winning consecutive games that are 3-2 over the Hurricanes and Stars, a much-needed mini win streak after dropping three of those first four matches of the season. John Tortorellas group has a lot to establish after dropping Sergei Bobrovsky, Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel to a free agency in the offseason. Of late, theyve been much better. Scoring goals remains an issue. The Blue Jackets enters this one yelling tied for 28th with only 2.33 goals per game over the season and while they have been improved against a few weaker offenses over the last three games, theyve still allowed 3.33 goals per game on the back end. Goaltending has been a problem so much following GM Jarmo Kekalainen decided against upgrading the situation after Bobrovskys passing, instead handing the keys. It appears the start of tonight will actually go to Elvis Merzlikins who has made just one another beginning this season, while Korpisalo has been better of late. Needless to say, said start didnt go well. Merzlikins was torched from the Pittsburgh Penguins to the song of seven goals on 40 shots, so good for an .825 Svpercent within his NHL debut. While we dont know much about Merzlikins from an NHL standpoint, we do know he put in some great work before taking his talents. Merzlikins submitted a solid .921 Sv% in Switzerland in each of the previous two seasons , however he found out that the NHL is an entirely new ball game. Merzlikins will have to deal with keep what is a Chicago Blackhawks crime at bay within this one. As they sit with an three goals per game despite the surge in October scoring, however remember that this has been the league crime from a season ago, they have hit their stride this season. The talented quarter of Patrick Kane Jonathan Toews, Dylan Strome and Alex DeBrincat should find the Blackhawks back into the top 10 this season while Erik Gustafsson is the sudden one of the very effective defensemen in the league from an offensive perspective. On the rear end, the Blackhawks have been adequate when allowing 3.25 goals per match, a number that places them right in the middle of this league. However, it has been in their penalty kill that has hurt them the most as they rank 30th with an awful 61.5% mark over the PK, however for tonight that the good thing is the Blue Jackets power play has scuffled a tiny bit having a 16.7% clip, great for a share of 23rd alongside the Vancouver Canucks. In four games played this year, the Blackhawks have allowed only six even-strength goals against. Their blueline was upgraded with the separate trade imports of Olli Maatta from Calvin p Haan and the Penguins in the offseason from a defensive perspective from the Hurricanes. The expectation is that the Blackhawks could be greatly improved from their 30th-ranked defense in the year past. They also updated their goaltending situation with Robin Lehner who is coming from a season using the New York Islanders in the offseason. Lehner has made just 1 start this season, but may indeed get beginning number two. Lehner allowed three goals on 33 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss. Lehner has ever been a really good goaltender during his nine-year NHL profession as he possesses a .918 Svpercent for his career and continues to be at .920 or greater in 3 of their four seasons. He wasnt playing for winning teams with the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres. For me, there is hardly any doubt about who gets the advantage in this one. All told, Im on the tonight. They snapped a losing run using a win on the white-hot Edmonton Oilers. They outshot the in that individual. I like the appearance of the crime and I cant help but feel that they have a major opportunity tonight after being torched this season against a goaltender who cant be playing. I guess they are easily able to eclipse that mark given the circumstances tonight, although theyve scored at least three goals in every game this season. The Blue Jackets have been better lately, particularly but protecting the Blackhawks at the United Center may be a tricky undertaking and I believe that the Blackhawks offense is prepared to split out. That wont be great news for Elvias Merzlikins and Co. as Im carrying the Blackhawks to win this one to the moneyline tonight.
